I have never seen anything like this! Imagine – a clock with a old-style concept but absolutely modern look! This unusual and amazing piece is called Times Go By Clock by designer José Tavares. It’s a dynamic digital LED clock with an ornate frame and a minimalist smoked glass cube. The frame is made of carved mahogany and a cut stainless steel pendulum it’s encased in a smoked glass box supported by an ornate handcarved mahogany base. I’ve never seen a piece that would be so old-fashioned and so cutting edge modern at the same time! Beautiful, cool, futuristic, stylish and luxurious! Amazing, don’t you think?

Transparent Mantle Clocks Made From Metal Wire

Dutch designer Kiki van Eijk has created this series of 14 mantle clocks, each made from a different metal wire or finish. Called One More Time, the clocks comprise a ceramic face and metal wires twisted into the frame of a clock case. Each clock has exactly the same shape, but a totally different appearance because of its finish. The clocks tell us a story about time: it always changes and looks different but its essence is always the same. The objects exist between fiction and reality, they are ultra transparent and seem to float in space by almost getting absorbed by its surroundings. It’s not only a clock but also a surrealistic transparent sculpture for your interior.

A Christmas Clock

That’s a pity that Christmas has passed already. But we can always remind ourselves of this wonderful event. Do you remember Santa’s deer with red noses? I’m sure you do. Designer Ben Klinger has taken the idea of a deer and introduced the clock. The clock is called Rudolf, it strongly reminds me of a reindeer and the red nose is here, too. The clock is made of natural wood. The good thing is that you can use this clock all year round and it will remind you of having a good time during Christmas.

A Clock That Shows The Fluid Nature Of Time

This stylish clock shows the abstract nature of time. It’s not a clock but it’s more an art object, it was created by Science & Sons. The Oblique Clock is made of maple, laminate, a clock mechanism, digital driver and a stepper motor, measures 48″ x 48″ x 5″. It’s a part of the collection of works by Science & Sons. By reinterpreting the existing elements of a clock face (hands and angles) this clock becomes a kinetic sculpture. I like the elegant geometry, each second shows us the fluid nature of time. Behind the clock face, the custom mechanical movements required to drive the piece were engineered from the ground up. Currently each piece in this series is priced at $3900.00 CAD. Time is money, isn’t it?

It isn’t hard to find a wall clock made of wood nowadays. Although it’s hard to find such clock with modern and elegant look. PILOTdesign has several modern wooden clocks among their products. They all are quite simple but that only makes them better for modern interiors. Some of them feature Kona pattern on MDF bases while others of bamboo plywood. Metallic silver numbers are mostly oversized so it wouldn’t be hard to check time even from far away. The prices are lower than for many other products for decorating in modern style.
