Pine And Brass Desk in Retro Style

This stylish desk is for those who love retro-chic. Note is a desk of blackened darkness mixed with the brass hardware with a fishbone pattern inside and out. Designer Kristoffer Fagerström created a “black box” that combined the old analogue approach of built-in rulers, hidden magnets and sketchpaper rolls with new functions like USB hubs and power outlets. Gleaming brass fittings referring to the fire used for burning the veneer meet the sooted surface, creating a powerful contrast. The outside is covered with the burned veneer in a fishbone pattern, and when you open the desk, the inside is covered with the finest selection of golden pine in the same pattern. Such a desk is an amazing example of vintage furniture with the most contemporary functions.

Curved Desk Made Of Maple by Nico Yektai

Nico Yektai is a creative designer that is trained in both art and craftsmanship. We already showed one of his awesome works before – a bench made of natural wood and concrete. Here is one of his latest works – the Desk #2. The whole desk is designed around the dynamic energy and movement of wood curves. It’s made of maple and features three drawers. Each of these drawers opens in a slightly different direction making the experience of opening them part of the discovery of the piece. The desk definitely can become the focal point of any room that it is in.

Flatmate by German company Magazin is a cool sleek desk of only 5 inches deep, front to back. It’s hard to believe it but it’s fact! Flatmate has a floor area of just 0.09 m², it’s the smallest fully equipped bureau. If you open the top you’ll get a 16-inch-by-28-inch flat surface-big enough for a laptop, a mouse, and a keyboard. In the backboard you can accommodate three shelves for papers, DVDS and so on. The whole thing attaches to the wall with a V-strip and two screws. Your work is saved and now you can accommodate with comfort even having not much space.

Anna and Marek Lorens, a couple of designers from Warsaw, presented a very interesting concept: a table that reminds of a honeycomb. It’s composed from a number of hexagonal elements; the table is very functional: you may open the drawers and put in whatever you want. A Dressing Table And A Desk With Cool Hinged Drawers

Presented at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2011 in Milan this dressing table and desk are new products designed by London design studio Raw Edges for Dutch brand Arco. They’re based on a cascading two-drawer unit that they launched in 2008. Both tables feature these hinged drawers as their parts and made of lacquered oak. The desk has a deeper table top while the dressing table has a mirror along the back. The desk and the dressing table are both perfect for those living spaces where space is at a premium because they are quite thin yet comfortable to use.

11 Amazing Designer’s Kids Desks

Kids of Kathmandu is a non-profit organization started by two Brooklyn artists in 2010 after spending their honeymoon at an orphanage in Nepal. They utilizes photography and the arts to raise awareness about the needs of orphans in Kathmandu. The Desk Project is their first initiative focusing on furniture design. They ask New York artists and woodworkers to design kids desk to be actioned off to raise money for education in Nepal. The result is 11 unique designer’s desks that can become a great addition to any home. Each desk is very inspiring and has some unique features like hidden storage, rustic look, wheels and so on. The Continue Desk designed by Ontario College of Art & Design student Francesco Angiulli was recently exhibited during the Interior Design Show 2011 in Toronto. It only proved our thoughts that curved minimalist furniture is one of rising trends of this year. The desk is a living prove that the minimalism people once imaged as our future is already here. The good thing is that the designer has made this furniture object also quite warm and sensual. Its rounded edges give the desk a unique and pleasant look so most of us can probably forget that it doesn’t have any drawers.
