Modest yet Beautiful Minimalist Desert House Design

Tubac house is located in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona. It’s one of several houses in deserts designed by Rick Joy. Even though the house looks quite modest it’s beautiful and eye-catching. Like usual houses it has a garden and a courtyard but plants there are cactuses. The whole cactus is looks like oasis because of its cool dark areas, the sound of water, the smell of flowers and so on. It features a cropped view of Tumacacaori Park which is located near by. A negative edge pool located at the west end of the courtyard extends the experience to this view. The coarseness of the rough steel exterior contrasts with the refinement of the interior palette of white plaster, stainless steel, maple, and translucent glass. Protruding steel box windows forms penetrate the building in apparently random but carefully selected locations to frame specific views of lightning storms and distant mountain ranges. [Rick Joy]

Contemporary Modern House in Chilean Countryside – Gatica House

This contemporary modern house is designed by Felipe Assadi and located in beautiful Chilean countryside. It consists of two parts for the family and their three sons families. The first one, which takes place in a line composed of the access, dinging halls and common master bedroom, is called the “main house”. The second one is a part that inserted literally within the volume whose main use is preferably weekend. The interior and exterior both has all features of contemporary modern design. They made of modern materials, has simple, minimalist shapes and all elements are placed where they should. Color theme is also chosen according to contemporary design trends but not usual for Chile. Minimalist House Divided on Two Layers – Cube House by Agraz Architects

Cube House is located in Jalisco, Mexico and designed by Agraz Architects. It has very simple and lightweight geometry which responds to the site’s topography. It’s placed on the hill overlooking the meadow. The first layer of the house is located on the street. It’s inhabitant’s access to the public life which also includes most public areas of the house. Below that layer is more protected and private space. Intimate life is taking place there. Outdoor terraces and garden are also situated on that level. There isn’t much furniture around the house while rooms are quite big and many of them have double heights. Such style is chose in order to accompany exterior’s minimalism. House with Two Courtyards and Modern Interior

When it comes to open plans and great indoor and outdoor connection, houses built around central courtyard are quite common. This house for a couple and two their daughters in Guadalajara, Mexico is one of those houses, which also has other adjacent courtyard and beautiful terrace. There are three levels in it. A basement level includes a garage, services and a game room and stairway which connects the whole house. On the ground floor the kitchen, dinging room and family room are located. All these areas surround the central courtyard. Three bedrooms are located on the third level but they still have great relationship with outdoor areas through the terrace. The interior design is done in modern contemporary style. Colors and shapes chose not only to be stylish but also cosy and practical. [Casa N by Agraz Arquitectos]

Minimalist House Above a Vineyard – Wilson House

This minimalist house is set above a vineyard in the Yarra Valley north-east of Melbourne. It’s designed by Denton Corker Marshall and consist of two thin rectangular plates which are supported by a series of parallel black concrete walls set at right angles to them and by the hillside. Full height glazing laid longitudinally between the plates. Each plate is 50m long and 11m wide and the roof plate is supported by internal steel columns. The lower level contains entry, car parking, wine cellar, study and guest bedrooms. The upper level contains master bedroom, second bedroom, living room, dining room and kitchen. Sliding external doors is what separates this internal space from upper level terrace. [Denton Corker Marshall]

Small Apartment Design in Modern and Minimal Style by BAKOKO

The transformation of this “mansion” apartment on the outskirts of Tokyo is a great example of adaptation of post-war housing stock into not only affordable but also comfortable accommodation. Mansion apartments are usually very small rented to a single occupant. This apartment is a 400 square feet space with modern minimal environment where owners could not only rest and relax but also work. Internal partitions were demolished to maximize light penetration and provide open-plan living arrangement. Closets and other storage space is hided behind sliding doors. The integrated plant box positioned above cooking area strikes a line of green vegetation across the space. A small changing room serves the bath-shower wet room and contains a bespoke compact vanity unit. The bathroom features natural timber and Hinoki wood which has a relaxing texture. The toilet not only has mat black walls which contrast with almost fully white interior design of this apartment but also features water saving technologies like using re-filtered water. [BAKOKO]

Gray Parallelogram Shaped House – House Kempeneers by Klaarchitectuur

Parallelogram isn’t usual shape for the house. Mostly architects use more simple forms combined from rectangular blocks without acute angles. Although House Kempeneers which is situated on the beautiful site in Belgium is designed not as usual house. Klaarchitectuur created beautiful gray colored house in the middle of green landscape which sits non-perpendicularly with the street like other houses in the neighbor. Its ground floor took 350 square meters of the site while the second floor is only 120 square meters but with the terrace from where owners could see the whole neighbor. Combination of floor to ceiling glass windows and doors in steel frames with gray bricks make the house quite minimalist and modern outside. The interior continues these tendencies and also is very interesting. There is only necessary furniture so nothing distracts from its features like stairs without the frame. [Klaarchitectuur]

Almost Pure White Futuristic Apartment Desing – Space Oddysey by Romolo Stanco

This ultra modern futuristic apartment is designed by Romolo Stanco which took his inspiration from Kubrik’s masterpiece 2001: A Space Odyssey. The comparatively small apartment contains a living area with an open kitchen and a bedroom with an adjoining bathroom. The living area occupies almost half of the flat. All built-in furnishing elements and surfaces are done in an extremely pure white lacquer. Walls remain untouched by any single piece of furniture and thanks to that and everything seems to flow in each other. Natural and artificial light make white look different from different angles. Vivid red is only one another color used in decorating to create beautiful accents. Sofa and chairs upholstery as well as bathroom wall done in it. This urban house is located in Mexico City and it was designed by Gomez Crespo Arquitectos. It has irregular form which responds to different parts of landscape. A blend of limestone, glass and steel was used to give the house a strong modern even minimalist look. As many houses in this region it’s strongly connected with outdoor spaces and has awesome views around it. The whole first floor has contact with gardens surrounding the house. Big windows allow to catch as much natural light as possible. Neutral colors and materials as well as high-tech lighting system help house to be in contrast with landscape and add it some elegance. Minimalist Yet Comfortable Apartment Interior Design in Only 3 Colors

The simplicity usually associates with discomfort while the comfort with exuberant forms and colors. This apartment was designed as minimalist as possible without losing in comfort. Only 3 colors was used in this apartment color theme: white oak from the floor tiles, dark grey from the mirrors and white from emulsion paint. The furniture and wall structure around the apartment is as minimal as possible but without losing in functionality. As usual for such kind of apartments the living room is combined with kitchen and dining room to create feeling of space. Mirror walls make the bathroom looks much bigger than it is. Combination of such tricks could add a bit of freedom in urban living. Barrie Ho Architecture, who designed this aparment’s interior, successfully created modern and comfortable place for living.
