Renovated Modern Boathouse Of Natural Wood

Lake houses are always special because the atmosphere on the lake shore is calm and relaxing. This amazing house supports the calming idea thanks to the wood of which it’s built. It’s located on Lake Muskoka, state Ontario, Canada; it’s called Muskoka Boathouse. This is a renovated boathouse of 600 square feet. Christopher Simmonds Architects managed to give the house a very modern look: below the stairs there is a pier, and above everything is done is natural wood: the floor, the ceiling and the walls. The furniture is minimalist and its amount is also minimal; the interior is very simple. Big windows are giving beautiful views of the lake.

Cozy Chalet Totally Of Wood In France

It’s winter and it’s high time to enjoy the fun of this season! Skiing, skating and snowboarding – that’s what we need. This chalet in the fashionable resort Courchevel, France, is right for this things, its whole interior is created for enjoying winter and feeling cozy and calm. The interior is mostly of wood; it’s a mixture of classical, rustic and vintage styles. Rustic tables, side tables and candle holders combine well with antler lamp and classical fire place and sofa. Even the furniture is made of wood and there is a wooden bath in the bathroom. This beautiful cottage invites to relax and enjoy a calm evening near the fire after a long skiing day.

Eco-Friendly Wooden House Designed In A Combination Of Styles

This beautiful house is located near Moscow, Russia, and was built for a mother by her children. The house is great and now it’s a place for the whole family to gather. Art Hall Studio took many styles and mixed them in a cozy way: some elements of Victorian style, Provence style and some traditionally Italian details. The house is eco-friendly as built of natural wood and you can see logs inside. There are three levels: the first level contains a sauna, a kitchen and a wine cellar; the second – a living room, a kitchen, a dining room; the third – several bedrooms and a study. Beautiful combination of natural wood and European styles makes the space very special.

All you need for happiness is just a tiny cabin house with a modern design like this one by Verstas Architects, in Finland. The cottage is small, space-efficient, with built-in furniture and of wood. Despite the dimensions of the cottage, it’s very spacious inside and it can accommodate not only one person but more – maybe up to four. The house is on a platform and views are maximized by a big window in kitchen are. Cottage of anybody’s dream to spend a weekend there!

Modern Wooden Cabin With Folding Glass Walls

Norway is an amazingly beautiful country of fjords and severe but fantastic Nordic nature. The Scandinavian design is a special branch with its characteristic features but if it’s located near the sea the views would be maximized like in this cabin by Norway architect Tommie Wilhelmsen on a faraway island. Overlooking the sea, this timber cabin features a dynamic exterior design and interiors that open to the outdoors through folding glass walls. The interior in some way reminds of a vessel, especially by its wooden decks. Light grey with beige and natural wood look amazingly calming and relaxing and they don’t distract the attention from the awesome views. Imagine – sitting there with a big cup of tea and reading a book. A dream, isn’t it?

A Secluded House In California

This is a small wooden house in California. It’s tiny but very cozy and traditional. White walls and natural wood is one of the most traditional combinations. I love the open fireplace in the living room. Here you can put a teapot or even roast your marshmallow. The library reminds me of the monastic cells of the Middle Ages. Here are big old books, even folios. Kitchen is in retro style with a rustic touch. I like natural wood everywhere, it gives coziness to the place. This house belongs to a woman hermit who is strongly religious. So she tried to use only natural materials and calm style. This is the best place to lead a secluded life and think about life and universe.

Cozy Apartment In Barcelona

The interiors of this beautiful apartment in Barcelona, Spain, were designed by Deulonder. The materials used are natural and of neutral colors – timber, brown leather and fabrics. The interiors are very cozy and modern, the bookcase in the living room is specified by making stairs to it. The kitchen is separated by the sliding glass doors so it looks very light and open and the usual dining chairs are replaced by the armchairs to make it more comfortable. Natural wood and white color is everywhere and it’s a very good combination for a bedroom. Big windows are in every room to maximize the light. In the bedroom they can be closed by the jalousie to make it more intimate. It’s an amazing house as it’s very cozy and you relax with the first glance at it.

103 Years Old Wood House In The Ocean

This beautiful house called Clingstone House is located on a tiny island on Narragansett Bay. It’s called so because it clings on a little island and was built by .S. Lovering Wharton and artist William Trost Richards. The house is made of 100% natural wood, it’s 103 years old and now it’s owned by architect Henry Wood and his family. There are 23 rooms in the house and 3 storeys and the house has a wonderful view of the ocean. Although the house looks antique there are many modern technologies used, for example, solar panels and wind turbine to generate electricity, rainwater-recycling and seawater-filtration systems, and composting toilets. It’s a wonderful house for a vacation or a weekend.

A Stylish Wooden House In The Alps

This stylish house is built by Austrian architect Bernardo Bader in a quiet village Bizau in the Austrian Alps, this mountain house is for children’s daycare. It looks very typical but it’s such an area for creative minds inside! The façade is brick but inside the house is wooden, mostly made of pine, the interiors are open, cool and contemporary. Nature is felt in every detail in this place. The architect decided to make many windows to catch as much natural light as possible and to enjoy wonderful Alpine views. From ceiling to floors – wood is everywhere, it was made by the local artisans. The house is not only beautiful and cozy but also eco-friendly and with passive technologies of energy efficiency.

A Barn That Became A House

This old barn was taken from Canada to Connecticut and was converted into a home. Russel Groves is one of the architects that worked to bring to life this project. The mechanical, electrical and data systems of the barn were updated but the look and the structure remained. The old stairs remained from the barn is one of the centerpieces. The fireplace in the living room is made of steel but it looks like it’s very old. Modern and stylish furniture gives a wonderful mixture with old wood of the barn. The kitchen is very simple and looks modern; two walls are made of mosaic marble. In the bathroom the modern silhouette of the bath gives a light sculptural touch. The furniture for the bedroom was taken in the local shop, it’s handcrafted but the designers painted it ebony black to get a modern touch. There is even a guest house where traditional style is mixed with contemporary. Could you think that an old barn can become such a fantastic living space?
