De Natura Fossilium Furniture Collection Of Cooled Lava

De Natura Fossilium Furniture Collection Of Cooled Lava

If you’ve been following us lately, then you have seen Monti Silvestri Clock by Formafantasma made of materials derived from the lava from the 2013 eruption of Mount Etna in Sicily. Here’s a furniture collection that continues this theme. Here Formafantasma used basalt, an igneous rock that forms when basaltic lava cools quickly, and paired it with brass elements to make stools and tables in a series they call De Natura Fossilium. Rope is wrapped around the other materials to not only hold them together, but also to add another design detail. The simple shapes and minimalist lines accentuate the unusual material. This furniture collection will become a unique touch for any modern space!
