Today ecological problems become more and more important, we have to think of alternative energy sources. This lamp SOLVINDEN by Ikea deals with this problem. Its name is translated from Swedish as “Sun Wind”, as those are the two things that power it. It’s a LED lamp that is charged by a combination of the lampshade, which rotates in a breeze, and the sun’s rays hitting the solar panel on top. The solar panel also contains a sensor that apparently switches the lights on when it’s dark outside. It’s a cool solution for just $30 – there are no power cables and you can move it outside. Recharging time is 9-12 hours in sunlight, but over 12 hours on a cloudy day.
