Jessica Helgerson Interior Design updated a split-level ranch house in Portland by introducing a clean white palette and vintage furnishings. The firm opened up the closed off kitchen, orienting it in the center of the living space. The décor style chosen is mid-century modern, and a restrained color palette—ebony floors, white walls, and textiles and tiles in various shades of green—creates a sense of relaxation. Cabinets in the master bathroom are made of kirei board, a material produced from the stalks of sorghum. Nearly all the furnishings, including a gorgeous rocking chaise, are vintage finds that were reupholstered and refinished. Wow!
