Round Glass Coffee Table Inspired By Old Rocket Toys

Rocket coffee table for nostalgic adults and kids

Designers today get inspired by different things: nature, flowers, art, various stories and pictures. Sometimes some of them remember their childhood and get inspired by their children’s memories.

In continuation of his creation of surreal and sculptural art objects, Cyprus-based furniture designer Stelios Mousarris has realized the nostalgia-inducing Rocket coffee table. The piece is inspired by his old toys, which he found and played with them for hours. He understood that he wanted to create something that would reflect that feeling of carefreeness that we have in the childhood.

The piece brings fluffy, cartoon-like clouds and aerial rockets from a personal toy collection to life in the form of a functional object. In its realization, Rocket coffee table combines various techniques from lathe to 3D printing, resin casting and traditional hand carved elements. Each of the individual rockets remain unattached to the glass, allowing the user to generate their own desired structure and configuration, again reminding of the playing in the childhood. Each rocket has a symbolic cloud of smoke that works as a leg.

The table is designed to tap into the playful minds of nostalgic adults and children alike, you not only use it for décor but also play with it – this is the creator’s idea, and we love it!
