Zig-Zag Single Storey Bungalow House With a Planted Roof

Lien Residence is a house in Singapore, that was designed by Singapore studio Ministry of Design. It is a single storey bungalow-type building with zig-zag shape. The shape helps it to avoid the existing trees and created small courtyard spaces that are sheltered from the weather but allow the entry of light and breezes to the interior and basement level. One more interesting feature of the house is a diagonally-patterned planted roof. The interior plan is divided into three sections – an entertainment zone, a family zone and a private master zone.

    I love this home!

It is so friendly towards its neighbours, offering so much green space upon which to gaze.

However, I would have preferred the path to have been mulch or pine needles, rather than stone as organic textures invite the body to relate to nature more immediately.

Also, the engawa is too narrow for its purpose and should be widened.

Wish my neighbour’s house looked like this gem! Thanks for posting this!

  4. Vertical Plan House With Greenery In Singapore | DigsDigs Says:

[...] Advertisement This house by Formwerkz Architects is located in the center of Singapore in a very busy district so the owner’s desire was to see a garden near his house. That’s why the architects had to decide a rather difficult task: there was a slender of the ground to accommodate a house and a garden. So the house has several levels with garden right on them. There is also a vertical plant wall that is usually neglected as canvasses for decoration. There are outdoor entertaining areas at every level and that is very useful for a family with kids. Interiors have a modern, open plan with a central staircase zigzagging its way to the top. The architects and designers showed us that it’s possible to enjoy greenery even in the centre of a busy district. [...]
