In 1959, Bodil Kjær created a broad range of modern furniture suitable for both indoor and outdoor usage. Now, nearly six decades later, Carl Hansen & Son has added the Danish architect’s Indoor-Outdoor series to its collection.

Made of teak and originally designed with the American market in mind, the Indoor-Outdoor series consists of a lounge chair, a small table, a dining table, a dining chair, a two-seat lounge sofa, a swing sofa, and a sunbed. Past renditions of the collection were made using mahogany, teak, and ash. Each piece is made using high-quality materials and superior craftsmanship, allowing the collection to withstand weather conditions like that found in Denmark, including direct sunshine, rain, fog, and wind.

Sleek and streamlined yet reassuringly robust, the BK14 sunbed is as pleasing to look at as it is to lie on. As with the rest of the collection, the sunbed’s solid teak construction has a simple geometric quality and is designed to weather beautifully over time. Complementing cushions in weather-resistant Sunbrella fabric are also available, offering elegant lounging in optimum comfort. The BK11 lounge chair features a linear form influenced by Cubism, the chair’s solid teak construction is designed to patinate beautifully with age and use. The result of expert craftsmanship, the chair’s design has an inclined seat and back, with armrests, legs and runners that are mortised together to form two squares.
