Pippa’s apartment by Muxin Studio is a downtown house in the Xuhui district of Shanghai, China. The owner’s unique work habits meant a multi-functional layout was required that successfully integrates work, study and leisure. The interior design has been tailored to meet the specific needs and lifestyle of the client resulting in a personal and unconventional space.

The master bedroom has been designed by Muxin as a contrast between modern and classical elements. A balcony opens up from the room, bringing light and fresh air into the space. There is also a bathroom located on one side which is relatively open, but if privacy is needed, the bedroom door can be closed. Oppositely to the overall metallic feeling of the master bedroom, the children’s rooms are warm and soft. On the ceiling hangs a three-dimensional light cloud, evoking a sensation of childlike imagination.

Being the client’s favorite place in the home, the drawing room aims to provide a space for contemplation and rest. Sunlight enters through the panoramic window and trees can be seen through the French windows. Plants and greenery are used throughout the apartment to provoke ideas of urban forests. The drawing room, and the house in general, is also arranged as a haven for art. The client’s art collection has been reorganized to suit the different sensory needs of the family, creating an apartment that is personal and unique. Ge more of these amazing spaces below!
