Wingardhs Mill House is a manifestation of the Swedish ritual of sauna and bathing. It’s an annex to a old farm in Vastra Karup, the country side of southern Sweden, which was converted into a vacation and sauna house. Besides the sauna space there are rooms for undressing, washing and relaxing. The traditional ritual of sauna involves baking together and dashing out for an invigorating dip in a cold water. To make the process flawless small pool was built adjacent to the sauna. Besides the pool there are small garden near it. The house’s interior is very bring and light thanks to it large windows and the cladding is done in natural wood. [Wingardhs, via dornob]

This is such an elegant and earthy design! My dream house to a T. What sort of branches are used in the fencing? I think New Mexican salt cedar could work beautifully in a similar vein.

this is a sick nasty house. its legit. i love it.

  4. Me Says:

Excellent house, but Sauna is a Finnish tradition and Finnish word. There’s nothing Swedish in it.

This house looks great but it would seem that the bedroom is a little clostrophobic. but over all i love it

  6. not Me Says:

it’s kind of dissappointing, that with all the hype about the Sauna house there’s only one picture of the actual sauna. And if you’re trying to pass sauna as a swedish tradition you could actually use the swedish word “bastu” for it instead of the finnish “sauna”.

  7. Jorgen Says:

You retard Sauna is finnish invention and swedish people try to take credit of that. Go home and suck balls.

what a beautiful house! i don’t think i have ever seen a house which combined modern and cozy in a better way. too often, the 2 are mutually exclusive, but not here. small size obviously did not mean small budget in this case, as one can see the appliances and fixtures are only of the most exquisite kind. a wonderful house! i imagine the craftsmen who built it to be quite famous by now, as this house was not just built, but crafted throughout. pure perfection.
