Living big in a small home is something that more and more people are familiar with, with lots of projects being developed specifically with this objective in mind. The MJE apartment is a cool project developed by PKMN Architectures that shows off a brand-new idea to handle this challenge.
This home doesn’t have a fixed and well-defined layout: instead of this, there are movable walls which allow it to change its layout and dynamic based on the needs of the inhabitants. At the center of the space there’s a rotating unit which is able to transform the apartment in a matter of minutes. The position of the unit delineates the internal layout of the space, making it possible to add one or two bedrooms whenever needed. Other cool and space-efficient features such as the wall beds increase the flexibility even more.
In addition to delineating the spaces, the moving wall is also packed with functionality and storage modules. Moving the wall and changing the layout of the apartment takes less than a minute which is very practical. The walls and ceiling are white, and this ensures a bright and open ambiance throughout the apartment. Most of the furniture is incorporated into the wall units and dividers, including most of the storage. The small bedroom space includes several beds that are fold down to save even more space – just hide them when not in need!
