Lantern collection is inspired by the traditional Chinese lamps, it looks both modern and antique at the same time
Traditional Asian architecture and designs have always inspired people, and today it happens even more often. More and more designers and architects get inspired by these two points and create unique items based on what they see. The lamp we are sharing today is one of them, and it’s inspired by Chinese lanterns.
Mario Tsai just released the Lantern lighting series, which includes a desk lamp, floor lamp, and chandelier. The trio of lights, inspired by the centuries old Chinese lanterns, are stripped back to result in a streamlined form with simple lines. The lamps look unusual as they are modern and antique at the same time.
The open, capsule-shaped forms come with lampshades that are either metal mesh or glass, depending on what type of light intensity and look are desired. The metal mesh lets light escape through the perforated openings while also creating shadows, and the glass displays an even cascade of light. There are several finishes: white, brass and black or brass for the glass version, choose yours!
