Named for the ferns planted around the lush property, Los Helechos is a modern oasis in the Mexico City neighborhood of Bosques de Santa Fe designed by Chain + Siman.
The angular volumes are finished off with oversized windows that frame the natural surroundings while keeping the interior filled with light. The multi-level structure features high ceilings and clean lines giving the sense of openness and grandeur felt throughout the spacious house. The main living area extends out to a terrace which is outfitted with a jacuzzi overlooking the trees. This is a small yet very relaxing space to enjoy the views. The staircase area features a double-height stone wall that continues to form the exterior of part of the house. Another wall becomes the backdrop for their curated collection of art.
The main area inside is the living room, which is united with the dining space and can be opened to outdoors if needed. The space features cool artworks and a fireplace, some contemporary furniture and a bronze statue at the wall. The bedroom is done with a hearth, a long TV unit and glazed walls to capture the views. The master bathroom is separated from the bedroom with a glass door, and you can see a free-standing tub, a bench and a long floating vanity there.
