Inspired by the shape of the sheds that inhabit the local area, the Limerick house by Solomon Troup Architects is an addition to an existing building in Eganstown, Victoria, Australia.

Clad in black spotted gum decking boards, the exterior mimics the surrounding. The setting, together with the view of Australian hills, create a warm atmosphere of an isolated getaway. To match the existing building, the addition features a pitched roof, meanwhile the slopes are not equal, which makes the shapes original. There are many glazed walls and parts that let natural light in and provide the views.

Solomon Troup Architects has used light wood inside the house to contrast the shed-like external image of the building. The interior maintains a modern style with all the necessary facilities. The kitchen and dining space are united and are opened to outdoors, there’s a glazed wall to open. The kitchen is done with sleek white cabinets and stainless steel appliances for a modern look. There’s a large open shelving unit here, which is made of the same wood, which clads the interior, it a cool display piece. More private zones are hidden in a more closed house next to Limerick.

In front of the house there’s a small deck with a couple of leather chairs, which is a great space to enjoy sunlight and fresh air.  Take a look at the house pics and steal some ideas for your home!
