We usually don’t use the same type of tile all over the bathroom and mix them up using some on the walls, some on the floor and maybe some more for accenting. How to mix and match bathroom tiles right to achieve a cool and not tasteless look? Here are some tips.
Pick your must have tile first and then look for a match. Typically when we start a bathroom renovation we have one tile that we dream of including in our design. Sometimes it is a really special or unique accent tile and sometimes it is as simple as knowing that you want white subway tile. Rock not more than three different tiles to achieve a stylish look – too many different tiles won’t bring elegance. Consider maintenance: tiles made from natural stone require more maintenance and do have to be sealed. Bathrooms are very wet areas and you may want porcelain or ceramic tile since they are almost maintenance free. Now let’s take a look how to mix and match.
Same Color, Different Tiles
If you want to achieve a timeless bathroom design, this is the look for you. Floors and walls are draped in the same color tile, yet different sizes and maybe different shapes are used on the walls to break up the consistency and to create interest and intrigue. The space looks cohesive yet not boring at all.

An Accented Floor, Plain Walls
This is an effective way to get creative with your tiles and make the floor the hero of the space, besides it’s a very trendy idea that you may often see today. Wall tiles are kept plain and subtle allowing the floor to shine and stand out.
